"The emergence of visual anthropology as a contender for full academic disciplinary status, and the counter-claims made with respect to ethnographic film, have become prominent in recent years as people globally have begun to assert their right to a greater say in the ways in which they can direct their common forms of life."

Women in Mali fuses visual illustrations with oral and written research presenting the multifaceted and heterogeneous lives of Malian women.
While these women work up to 16 hours a day, creating the social and economic backbone of the area, they are perpetually excluded from the political process. Recent interventions from humanitarian organizations have created interesting changes in the daily lives of these women. The unexpected interplay between global compassion and local idiosyncracies presents a fascinating and spontaneous field study captured in our footage and findings.
